Carsten Smidt, Ph.D., is the Chief Science Officer for Shaklee Corporation. Dr. Smidt obtained his Doctorate in Nutrition Science and Physiological Chemistry from the University of California at Davis, 1990.  He has worked in the dietary supplement and medical foods industry for 17 years, including four years at the Mead Johnson Nutritional Group, Bristol Myers-Squibb Company (developed Boost® energy drink). In addition, he was with Pharmanex for 10 years as Senior Vice President of Global R&D.

He is a member of American Society for Nutritional Sciences (ASNS), the American Society of Clinical Nutrition (ASCN), and the German Society for Nutrition (DGE), and a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (FACN). Dr. Smidt is also a Member of CRN (Council for Responsible Nutrition) Senior Scientific Advisory Council (SSAC).
